Believe it or not, before the days of bike racks, triathlons and multisport events were still as prominent as ever. The Retro Tri Series is taking a step back to those days by offering a unique series that highlights the retro allure that once was. Retro attire is encouraged to enhance the experience and atmosphere! 

The USA Triathlon Retro Tri Series is a youth and adult multisport event that combines swimming, biking, and running. Athletes will receive a final race time, with the focus on participation rather than competition. 

To participate in the USA Triathlon Retro Tri Series, athletes must be at least 13 years of age. This race is one of 15 events across the United States which will make up the 2014 series. The Retro Tri Series will serve to expose and continue to educate all participants on a healthy and active multisport lifestyle.

We will be following all USAT rules and there are no refunds. Helmets are mandatory for all participants! No blocking and no drafting is allowed on the bike course. 

This race is open to first-timers, seasoned veterans, and those looking to stay active, all while in an event atmosphere. We will close registration at 100 athletes!

Every registered athlete gets a Retro Tri headband, and all finishers earn a Retro-style "Trucker Hat". 

Event Distances:

Swim: 300 yards

Bike:  6 miles

Run:  2 miles

Event Timeline:

6:00 a.m. -  Parking opens. You will be parking in the back of the community along the streets. We will have volunteers to help guide you to the area. 

6:00 a.m. 7:30 a.m. -  Race check-in and body marking by the pool. (No timing chip needed!)

7:30 a.m. -  Report to the pool for the swim seed positioning.

7:45 a.m.  - Announcements and last minute course updates.

8:00 a.m.  - Race starts!

10:45 a.m. - Awards ceremony begins

The race will begin pool-side at 8am based as a time trial start, with athletes starting every 5 seconds. The swim will be 300 yards as you move down and back through the pool lanes. 

You will then transition to a grassy area before heading out to the out and back 6 mile bike. We will have a transition area, but no bike racks. (This is a Retro Tri!)

Your run will take you through the Tributary community as a 2 mile out and back. 

look for this race to be flat, but it will indeed be fun!

Totally Radical Info:

EVERY registered athlete will receive a Retro headband before the race, and we encourage you to wear it on the run! Once you cross the finish line, you will also get a rad truckers hat as your finisher gear. In addition, we will still be giving out age group awards for top three placements.

Age group awards will be given three deep in the following categories: 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.
