The Farm 2 Table 5K - Farmers Market and Family Festival aims to educate the community about of the benefits of combining healthy foods, sourced through local farmers, with fitness. Located in Fletcher Community Park, the event will be a fun evening for runners as well as parents and their children to come out, learn about local farmers markets and participate in a fitness event.
This PR-friendly 5K will be chip-timed and is part of the 2014 Asheville Track Club Grand Prix series. Kids and parents can enjoy the 1K Kids Fun Run (for older kids) and the Firefly Dash for the little ones.
The family festival will include music, water fun (so bring a towel), games, and food-centered activities. The farmers market will be offering a bounty of local fresh foods and fruits for purchase, while several Farm to Table food trucks will be onsite for runners and families to enjoy a tasty dinner.
This inaugural Asheville Track Club event will benefit FEAST (Fresh, Easy, Affordable, Sustainable, and Tasty) of Asheville whose mission it is to promote healthy eating choices and make them accessible to people of all income levels through hands on cooking classes that encourage and empower participants by teaching skills needed to make fresh, wholesome and tasty food.
Preregister for both the 5K and kids events online at www.farm2table5k.com until June 25th (5K: $25; Youth 5K: $20; Kids races: $10). Early Registration for the 5K is $23 through 3/31/2014! Asheville Track Club members receive a $3 discount (if you havent received the discount code, please follow up with ATC).
On race day, both the festival and onsite registration begin at 4:30 p.m. at Fletcher Community Park (5K: $30; Youth 5K: $25; Kids races: $12) The 5K will start at 6 p.m. Kids races will begin at 7pm. Festivities will end about 8:30 p.m.

Course Description
The Farm2Table 5k is a mixed surface course that begins in a grassy field and is flat, flat, flat.
Runners run toward the back side of the park and take a left as they reach the white gravel trail.
Runners will follow the gravel trail around the back part of the park until they reach the paved path that runs around the soccer field.
Run around the soccer field in a counter clockwise direction back onto the grass toward the starting line.
Runners will then take a right hand turn across the roadway to the trail.
At this point, the course is an OUT & BACK trail which continues 0.87 miles beyond the bridge and runs parallel to the river.
The terrain is gravel and concrete throughout this portion of the race.
- Runners will exit the trail and stay on the grassy portion that runs along the road toward the finish shoot.
