The 2014 MWCC Friends 5K invites individuals and pairs of runners to compete over a 3.1 mile scenic loop beginning and ending on MWCCs beautiful campus. COSTUMES ARE ENCOURAGED! Pairs are invited to dress alike or as their favorite team (Bacon and Eggs, Tom and Jerry, etc.) Be creative!
CASH PRIZES AND GIFT BASKETS AWARDED FOR TOP THREE INDIVIDUAL FINISHERS AND TOP THREE FINISHING PAIRS! There will be T-shirts, raffles and goody bags for participants AND a free cookout for participants and spectators with live entertainment!! This race is a professionally timed event.We will be updating our website with prize information as we add sponsors.

The 2014 MWCC Kids Fun Run

The 2014 MWCC Kids Fun Run is a non-competitive eventthat will be held at the 14 mile track on the campus of Mount Wachusett Community College. Kids ages 2 and up can participate up to one mile (1 to 4 times around the track). All children will receive a Finishers medal, prizes and a T-Shirt! There will be music, face painting, refreshments and more!
REGISTRATION DETAILS FOR BOTH EVENTS:
WALK IN:Register in personprior to the race at The Fitness and Wellness Center, 444 Green Street, Gardner MA 01440: Monday Friday from 5am-9pm, Saturday and Sunday from 7am-5pm. (We accept Cash, check, MC, Visa or Discover)
MAIL: Registrations may be mailed but must be received by 5:00pm Friday August 8, 2014 please do not mail cash.
RACE DAY: Registrations will be accepted on Race Day from 6am - 8am for the FRIENDS 5K and from 6am 10am for the Kids Fun Run.
**These are public events that will be photographed and/or recorded.
The MWCC FRIENDS 5K is a scenic loop that starts and ends on the beautiful campus of Mount Wachusett Community College and includes the bike path along Crystal Lake. The route, with elevations, can be viewed on the race website. ROUTE CUES:
1.The 5K RUN/WALK will begin at the STARTING LINE. When signaled, participants will walk or run toward to Green Street and the Golf Course.
2.Take a LEFT on Green Street
3.At the cross walk, CROSS Green Street and enter the Bike Path (Gardner Police will be stopping traffic for the runners).
4.At the end of the Bike Path bear LEFT behind the Skating Rink, through the parking lot and up to Park Street
5.Take a LEFT onto Park Street which becomes Central Street
6.Take a LEFT onto Green Street (Congregational Church will be on your left.)
7.At the cross walk in front of the Guild of St. Agnes, CROSS Green Street (there will be another Police Detail here stopping traffic)
8.TakeRIGHT ontoMatthew Street (you will run past the Court House on your left)
9.Turn LEFT onto the campus of Mount Wachusett Community College
10.Turn RIGHT at the stop sign and follow the road around to the FINISH LINE (you will run past the Starting Line)
From Eastern Mass:
Route 2 West to Exit 24B. Drive straight through two traffic lights then take the next left onto Matthews Street. Turn right at the end of Matthews. The main entrance is on the right just before the digital sign with the red lettering.
From Western Mass:
Route 2 East to Route 140 North. Take exit 24, turn left at the end of the exit ramp. Drive straight through 2 sets of traffic lights and take the next left (Matthews Street.)Turn right at the end of Matthews and look for the digital sign with the red lettering. Turn right into the main entrance.
From Southern Mass:
I-190 North to Route 2 West. Take exit 24B and drive straight through two traffic lights. Take the next left onto Matthews Street. Turn right at the end of Matthews Street and look for the digital sign with red lettering. Turn right into the main entrance.
From New Hampshire:
Route 12 South to Route 140 South. Bear right at exit Gardner, and drive approximately one mile. Turn left into the main college entrance just past the digital sign with the red lettering.
