RACE CANCELLED

The Norfolk Sprint Triathlon will start on August 17, 2014 at 7:30am at Community Beach, located at 700 East Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA. The swim will be in the Chesapeake Bay (400 yards). The bike will run from Community Beach west about 1.5 miles and back (4 laps), spanning 12 miles. The race will end with roughly a 5k run west on the beach! So not only will this race be a swimmer-friendly triathlon, but it will also test your running endurance with the new and improved run on the beach to end the race!

This race is partnered with the Compassion Advocacy Network.

Race Day Registration

There will be race day registration. Participants will need to arrive around 1 hour before the race to get registered for the event. T-shirts sizes can NOT be guaranteed for race day registers. CASH OR CHECK ONLY (checks made out to Bishop's Events, LLC).

Parking

Parking will be at Community Beach (700 East Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA 23510), right near the transition area.

Timing

Chip Timing will be done by RacePacket.

Bike

The bike section is 4 laps (1.5miles out-and-back). Although, this is not ideal for athletes, this does provide us the safest course for 2014. We can make sure each intersection is safely covered with an officer or volunteer versus spanning the course out over a longer loop.

Swim

Swim will take place in the Chesapeake Bay. Lifeguards will be in the water to provide safety for swimmers. Swimmers will take off in waves depending on their estimated swim time.

Competitors

Ages 10 through 100 can compete in this event. All athletes 17 & under must purchase a YOUTH ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP ($10) at www.usatriathlon.org (and then register for this race as USAT Annual Members).
