The Double Road Race was created by Bob Anderson in the summer of 2010. Seven small events were staged by Ujena Fit Club in Mexico between Oct 2010 and Oct 2012 called the Bob Anderson 15k Challenge. Bob participated in each event to refine and develop this new sport.
The first official Double Road Race was held December 23, 2012. Nearly 1400 people registered for the Pleasanton, California event. The Double Road Race is a 15k (9.3 miles) distance race consisting of two legs, an opening 10k leg followed by a 5k leg with a halftime in between featuring the Recovery Zone. Ten Double Road Races will be held in 2014 and 14 are planned for 2015. All will be produced by the DRRF and directed by a local Double Road Race Director.
The Double starts off with a 10K leg, after the leg all runner's will have the option to participate in our Half Time/Recovery Zone. This is where runner's can stretch out, get a massage, hop on an exercise bike, use rollers, re-hydrate or do whatever you need to prepare yourself for the 5K leg of the race. When you add in our 5K fun run/walk and kids cup mile, there is definitely something for everyone at this up and coming event!
