The 2014 Bowling Green Sprint Triathlon will be held on Sunday August 17th starting at 8 am Central Standard Time. We are now in our 9th year of this event. We will again be starting from the Russell Aquatics Center in the Preston Miller Park in our 50 meter pool. The race will consist of a 400 meter pool swim, a 23 k (15 mile) bike route and a 5 k (3.1 mile) run. WE HAVE SET UP A NEW 5K RUNNING COURSE THIS YEAR, PROVIDING A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF THE COURSE ON RUNNING TRAILS AND NOT CITY STREETS. This race is short enough to be a good beginners race, yet challenging enough for expert triathletes.
This years race is expected to draw over 300 participants ranging from elite to professional level triathletes to novice and first time racers. Race divisions include Men's and Women's Divisions with age groups ranging from under 16 to 75 and over. We also welcome relay team entries with Men's, Women's and Mixed Divisions. The race also has a Wheelchair Division.
This event is produced by the Bowling Green A. M. Rotary Club, with proceeds going to the Rotary Club Scholarship Program. The major sponsors for this event included The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department, and Graves Gilbert Clinic.
