The Strides of March: Hustle for Humanity 5K

On Sunday, March 30 at 10 am, PSU Food for Thought has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity and Global Brigades to host the first annual Strides of March: Hustle for Humanity 5K! This 5K walk/run is open to Penn State and the State College community.  All proceeds will directly benefit three philanthropic causes:

PSU Food For Thought, a student-founded organization, is dedicated to improving the lives of children around the world. Last year the World Health Organization estimated that between 3.5 and 5 million children under the age of 5 died due to starvation. Unfortunately, this figure is only expected to rise given the worlds exponential population growth. In our own country one out of every 45 children, or about 1.6 million young kids are homeless. Our organization partners with Concern Worldwide, an international non-profit, with the objective of sending a revolutionary nutrient supplement called PlumpyNut to malnourished children in Africa.

Penn State Habitat for Humanity uses their funds to build and renovate homes for deserving families in need within the Centre County community. Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat has built more than 250,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.
