THE TOUGHEST SPRINT TRIATHLON/DUATHLON IN THE EAST. There are more than enough "typical" sprint triathlons and duathlons out there. How about a true test to start your 2014 season? A 500-yard swim in 55-degree water (for duathletes: a 2-mile killer run). Twelve miles on your road bike climbing 1000 vertical feet with gradients up to 10%. A 3-mile technical trail run finishing with a deep-sand beach sprint and an 18% hill climb. First 50 registrants will receive a priority parking pass, allowing them to park close to transition and start/finish.
Triathletes. Start with a 500-yard, pond swim in 55 degree water (wetsuits mandatory). Duathletes. Narrow, very technical 2-mile trail run ending with a beach run before the transition climb. All athletes. A 12-mile bike on paved roads with very challenging hills, followed by a 3-mile run into the seldom-visited backcountry of DCR-Nickerson State Park. Narrow trails and frequent rocks and roots underfoot require alertness and agility. The run finishes with a third of a mile sand run along Cliff Pond Beach followed by a 300-foot, 18% climb up the largest cliff on Cape Cod.
Take exit 12 off of Route 6 East and turn left onto Route 6A.
Nickerson State Park is approximately 1.5 miles ahead on your left.
