Description:
CusioCup announces the 3rd Middle Triathlon around Lake Orta, an event that is an important part of Triathlon season in Italy. This year we are keen to reconfirm the famous relay race of 3 athletes to make the race more accessible to wide public. The swimming route starts in the village of Pettenasco in Lake Orta, one of the top 5 cleanest lakes in Europe, for a total distance of 1.9 kilometres. The cycling fraction will take place as two rounds of Lake Orta, which promises to be challenging and fascinating. The running part of triathlon will be performed in the village of Pettenasco.
Course Information:
- 1st Discipline - Swimming - 2 laps - 1900 m

Exit and turn at the point on the beach where is the start and with the presence of the public. Temperature of water: 20/22C. To consider that Lake Orta has been recognized as one of the five cleanest lakes in Europe.

- 2nd Discipline - Cycling - 2 laps - 82 km

Hilly route with 40% of the route will be near the lake.. Total elevation gain is 980 meters. Roads will not be closed to traffic but not completely controlled at every intersection of the race by volunteers. After the first 3 km of cycling which will bring you to the roundabout at Orta S. Giulio you will enjoy 600 meters at 3-4% of slope just to warm up your legs. Descent through one of the most beautiful areas of the coast with beautiful nineteenth-century villas and gardens of magnolias to reach the shadow of the medieval Torre del Buccione; the second climb that will lead to the village of Gozzano, 1400 meters to 4-6%. Time to catch your breath and soon after a third ascent leading to the village of Bugnate be ready of 3 km of uphill with an average gradient of 5% is actually divided into several "walls" with slopes in some cases double-digit changing with flat sections. A quick descent leads to Pogno and then gently lifts up where the climb up starts to Cesara, the longest up (4 km) but with very low gradients (2-4%), to do with the highest gear. Until Omegna it's all downhill, with great views (but better not get distracted too much) the crossing of the towns' slowing paved humps will send you back to reality. In return to Pettenasco on the east coast 6 km of flat road which will help you to recover and make you ready for the second round of the Lake Orta, the same as the first (41 km each with a total of about 82km).

- 3rd Discipline - Running - 3 laps - 21 km

Hilly route. Elevation gain total of 300 meters The third discipline consists of 3 laps of a mixed route for a total of 21 km, from the asphalt pavement of the lakeside walk, the streets of the centre of the village until the dirt road along the Pescone valley. The effort at this point will be significant but the great diversity of the running routes make it more pleasant at the final stage of this competition.
