Triathlon : Swim 600 Meters, Bike 19.6 Miles, Run 4 Miles |
The 6th Annual Little Traverse Triathlon takes place along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Harbor Springs, MI. The 600M swim is in the Little Traverse Bay, the water is totally clear and sheltered. The 19.6 mile ride heads up the Tunnel of Trees route along M119. It is along the shoreline and has some good rolling hills with one solid climb at the turnaround point. The 4 mile run heads along the water and is a flat, fast course. This is going to be a great family event. We will have everyone from the serious triathlete to a ton of first time racers. Harbor Springs is gorgeous in July, come on up and have some fun! A FREE MINI KIDS RACE is included. This race is presented by Bay Tennis & Fitness.
~Swim
The swim starts on Zoll Street Beach in picturesque Little Traverse Bay. It is a rectangular 600M course in clear, sheltered water. There will be kayaks and marine patrol following each wave.
~Transition 1 to Bike
Racers will run about 100 yards out of the water onto sand and grass, then up the street to the bike racks.
~Bike
The ride will be an out and back course on M119 following the Lake Michigan Shoreline. It is a 19.6 mile course of rolling hills (with one you will not forget halfway to the turnaround point on the way out). There will two aid stations and multiple vehicles and volunteers along the course to cheer you on. The last three miles are straight and fast to hammer home.
~Transition 2 to Run
Racers will return their bikes to the park where they started, throw on their shoes, and begin running.
~Run
The run is fast and the scenery is gorgeous. It is an out and back 4 mile run course, finishing at the transition area. There will be an aid station at the turnaround point and plenty of volunteers cheering for you along the way.
