The Montessori Mudstacle is Catawba Countys first-ever mud/obstacle course race. Unlike other mud and obstacle runs, whose hallmarks are painful endurance runs and heated competition, the Montessori Mudstacle will be a non-competitive, family-friendly event featuring environmentally-friendly 1/2 mile and 5K courses designed for participants from ages 3-103. While family-friendly, the 5K course will be a challenging one designed by world champion off-road motorcycle racer, Shane Watts. There will be 25 obstacles built into the natural terrain of the land, including balance beams, creek runs, tunnel crawls, and mud pits. In addition to running, participants can expect to jump, crawl, climb, swing and slide their way to the end of the course. The 1/2 mile fun run is just that an obstacle laden woodland experience for all levels of fitness. The Montessori Mudstacle is a benefit event to support Montessori at Sandy Ford, the oldest private secular school in Catawba County, which has been educating children for over 30 years. The funds from the event will go towards playground equipment, technology in the classroom, and conservation efforts for the school.
