Description:

Sunday, April 13

Occoquan Regional Park

Love triathlons, but hate the swim?  Well, tri this race.  We've taken everybody's least favorite part of the race, and added a new challenge: kayaking.  Athletes now kayak out to the Route 123 bridge and back instead of swimming.  If you want to compete with a friend, try using a canoe.

Don't want to use a kayak or canoe?  We have a duathlon just for you!  Replace that kayak/canoe with your legs!

So you want to race with a friend in a canoe?  That's fine by us!  Just sign up as "Two People - Tri It at the Occoquan (You have your Own Canoe - Not a Relay)" or if there's three of you "Three People - Tri It at the Occoquan (You have your Own Canoe - Not a Relay)."

Don't have a kayak or canoe?  You can try renting one from our limited supply (only available for pre-registration).

Personal Floating Devices (PFDs) are required during the race.  Athletes are suggested to have a whistle as well in case of an accident.

Race Start Times

Triathlon - 8am

Duathlon - 8:05am

Course Info

The kayak/canoe section of the course is about 3/4 of a mile.  The bike is 3 laps equally out to just under 9 miles; followed by a 5k run.  Or if you're doing the duathlon, replace the kayak/canoe section with another 5k run.
