2010 Laramie Duathlon:


  • Race at 7500 feet!  Youth 18 and under race for free! 

  • This is a low-key race offering challenging competition for the experienced duathlete.
    while providing an excellent opportunity for beginners to test their mettle on their first race.
     
  • Proceeds support Cycle Wyoming and safe cycling in the state and communities.
  • Course Information:

    5K run, 25K bike, 2K run

    5K run--The run starts with a gradual uphill going west out of the park before turning north on Welsh Lane, a gravel road.  It turns east on Stockyards Road (also gravel) and goes to the intersection with Pierce Street near the Petro Truck Stop.  Runners turn south on Pierce until they reach Van Buren St., turning west back to the park.

    25K Bike--All on paved roads, begins with a gradual uphill on U.S Highway 130 before turning north on Herrick Lane.  Herrick Lane is a rolling paved road that offers a challenging uphill segment just after the trun-around point. 

    2K run--Will go around a few city blocks before returning to Kiwanis Park.

    Directions:



    From I-80: Take Snowy Range Exit, heading west. Follow Snowy Range Road; take right-hand fork (headed north) when road splits between Highways 130 and 230. Take Highway 130 to Kiwanis Park, approximately 14 mile.

    From Highway 287: Follow 3rd Street to intersection with Snowy Range Road/Clark Street. Turn west and go over viaduct. Follow Snowy Range Road and continue as described above from I-80.

  • The Laramie Duathlon is a rain or shine event.
  • Temperatures in Wyoming by mid-June can be somewhat cool.
  • Winds can be a factor on the bike ride but, if the wind direction follows the norm, it should be a headwind on the first half of the ride and a tailwind on the return trip.
  • Laramie is at an elevation of 7,200 feet.
