The Wilkes-Barre Triathlon courses are laid out across the scenic Back Mountain Area of the Wyoming Valley in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Sprint and Olympic Distance Swim Course is a .75 Sprint Distance and a 1.5 Olympic Distance kilometer loop in Harvey's Lake. Upon completion of the swim, triathletes proceed to the swim/bike transition area which is located at the The Harvey's Lake Beach Club.
The Bike Course (40k) is a 40 kilometer course that winds through Harvey's Lake, Noxen, Idetown, Huntsville and Jackson Township, ending at the bike/run transition area on the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus in Lehman.
The Run Course (11k) is a challenging 11 kilometer loop that starts and ends at The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus. The course features winding turns, inclines and declines over varying terrains. Water stops are strategically placed throughout the course in efforts to keep the triathletes hydrated through completion of the triathlon.
The Sprint Bike Course (26k) will be the same as the Olympic Distance Course minus the Noxen Loop. Instead of making the left at Hanson's toward Noxen, bikers will continue around Harvey's Lake until they pass Grotto Pizza, where they will turn left toward the Penn State/Lehman Campus.
The Sprint Run Course (5.5k) will follow the Olympic Distance Map until just after the first water station. Olympic Distance runners will turn left after the first water stop as in years past... The Sprint runners will bear to the right until they find the timing gate on Deer Park Road. Sprint Runners will then make a 360 degree turn and head back to the finish line at the Penn State/Wilkes-Barre Campus.
