  • Location:Medoc Mountain State Park
  • City/State/Zip:Hollister, North Carolina 27844
  • Country: USA
The 7.45 mile race will offer a unique handicapping system that changes the time you start the race. We have used the Howard Grubb WMA Age-grading calculator and information from the legendaryDipsea Race to determine each runners start time. Times are based on both gender and age. Simply put the really young and the senior population get a head start of a varying degree, and women get an additional time adjustment. The winner of the race? Simple. . . the first person to cross the finish line.
This unique approach to racing puts runners in a place they are not used to being in. Your fit and fast young runners suddenly find themselves at the back of the race trying to pass hundreds of runners to climb to the front. The master's runners and grade-school runners find themselves potentially leading the race at mile one trying to hold off the elites chasing them down. How awesome does that sound!?
Regardless of your age, gender, experience, or ability level the Medoc Spring Races is an event you will not want to miss!

Other Info:

The Medoc Spring Races uses a handicapping system to stagger the start time of runners.  Start times are established based on your age and gender.

Please keep in mind the head starts are designed to create a competitive race and not to give any one group a competitive advantage. We attempted to use science to create the start times and minimize any human bias.

Head Starts

By "equalizing" all runners with head starts it creates a race environment like nothing else in the area.  The most talented runners in their age group are now racing to win it all!
