Description:

The longest running triathlon in Bear Lake.  Bear Lake is the considered by many the Caribbean of the Rockies with the bluest water in several states in the Intermountain Regional.  This race has happened for 8 years without interruption with Swim, Bike and Run courses (Do not confuse us with other Bear Lake events). The Brawl is a great large triathlon with a small triathlon feel but with all the support of the bigger triathlons.  The way this is accomplished is by thinning out the race waves so there are very few participants on the course.  This makes for a safe and easy to pass course.  This race is done in late summer so it has the advantage of the summer warmth in the water yet still cool on the bike and run portion.

Course Information:
Sprint Course - On Saturday September 13, 2014

-Swim 750 Meter - This one lap counter clockwise triangle swim is in the bluest waters in Utah. Each buoy is 250 Meters apart and has at least one boat/kayak with lifeguard for support.
-Bike 12.4 Miles - This is an out and back course on the East side of the Bear Lake.  Most of this bike course has the view of Bear Lake on the West side.
-Run 3.1 Miles - This is an out and back course primarily on paved roads however there is around 1 mile on dirt.  This course no longer enters the highway in loop but maintains the same course in years past only with a turn around for out and back for extra safety.

Olympic Course - On Saturday September 13, 2014

-Swim 1500 Meter - This two lap counter clockwise triangle swim is in the bluest waters in Utah. Each buoy is 250 Meters apart and has at least one boat/kayak with lifeguard for support.
-Bike 24.8 Miles - This is an out and back course on the East side of the Bear Lake.  Most of this bike course has the view of Bear Lake on the West side.  Unlike 2013 this course will be returned to its original distance and course with out 12.4 miles and back 12.4 miles (no two laps)
-Run 6.2 Miles - This two times out and back course is primarily on paved roads however there is around 2 mile on dirt.  This course no longer enters the highway in loop but maintains the same course in years past only with a turn around for out and back for extra safety.

Half Course - On Friday September 12, 2014

-Swim 1.2 Miles - This is a two times out and back course.  No longer triangle but diamond buoy to buoy with spacer buoys in between to help keep swimmers from running into each other.  Each buoy will be .15 miles apart with at least one to two lifeguards on boat/kayak in between.  Great swim in incredible blue clear water.
-Bike 51 Miles - This bike course is one large clockwise loop around the lake with Bear Lake always on your right shoulder.  The bike course has two aid stations where you can switch water bottles.
-Run 13.1 Miles - The run course is an out and back course on a primarily flat paved road.  Only a short distance on dirt.  This run course has aid stations every 1.5 Miles and is over beautiful farmlands.  In 2014 the course will be slightly changed to avoid cattle possible cattle drives that time of year.
Directions:

Drive to Bear Lake, Utah.  The course is on the South Side of the lake near Laketown, Utah at Rendezvous Beach Bear Lake - Utah State Park. This can be accessed from Evanston Driving I-84 or from Logan over Logan Canyon.  Both are about the same time frame from Salt Lake however the Evanston route is flatter and the Logan route is much more scenic
