Registration Deadline -- Early bird registration can be made prior to June 23.  T-shirt sizes will not be guaranteed after June 23.  Final registration date is July 7There will be no race day registration.

Competition categories

Awards -- All finishers will receive a medal.  Trophies will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in each race. Trophies will also be awarded to the top three in each competition category (individual and team).  All participants receive a t-shirt.

Check in and pool warm up will be from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. at the McDonough Center.  There will be no check in after 7:00 a.m.

All participants must sign the USAT waiver at the time of check-in unless a member of USAT. 

All athletes must present a photo ID at the time of check-in.  NO ID, NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS.  Athletes under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a photo ID. 

Helmets are required on the bike course.

Refreshments will be available throughout the race for all participants, spectators and volunteers. 

Child care is not available the day of the race.

Professional timing services provided by George Frazier.

No headphones are permitted during any part of the race.

No drafting is permitted on the bike course.

Triathlon -- Race begins at 7:30 a.m. with the first wave of the swim event.  Waves begin every 12 minutes with the slowest estimated overall finish time in the first wave.  Wave assignments cannot be changed on race day.

Duathlon -- Race begins at 7:45 a.m. with a group start outside the Transition Area.

Faith in Action Caregivers reserves the right to change the course of the race prior to the start of the race due to unexpected weather conditions, traffic control problems, or other situations that may affect the safety of the participants, spectators or volunteers.  Any changes will be announced at the pre-race meeting at 7:15 a.m. on race day.

Course Information:

Triathlon
The 400 meter swim (16 lengths or 8 laps) will be in the indoor pool at the McDonough Center.
The 25K bike course will exit the campus onto Currie Drive, turn left onto Washington Avenue, right onto Route 40 East (National Road), travel east approximately 2 miles to a left turn onto Lumber Avenue and continue along Lumber Avenue to the Shilling Bridge.  Then turn left into the Elm Grove Shopping Mall and continue through the parking lot to Krause Drive.  Then right onto Route 40 East.  Follow Route 40 and make a right turn onto Middle Creek Road for about three miles to the turnaround at Union Hill Road.  The same route is followed back to campus.
The 5 K run (3 laps) will take place on the cross country trail on the WJU campus and finish with a partial lap on the track.

Duathlon
The 3 K run begins at the Transition Area and exits the campus onto Currie Drive.  Runners turn right onto Washington Avenue and proceed to the main WJU entrance.  At the top of the hill, runners turn right at the Robert C. Byrd NTTC (Parking B) and follow the road into Parking I and past the Acker Science Center.  Then run down the hill in front of Ignatius Hall.  At the bottom of the hill turn left onto Ignatian Way and follow the road past the stadium to Parking D (Admissions Parking) in front of the John and Mary McShane Admissions Center.  Run through the parking lot and enter the trail behind the stadium track and tennis courts and follow the path to the Transition Area.  DO NOT USE THE CROSS COUNTRY TRAIL ON THIS LEG OF THE RACE.

Directions:

Wheeling Jesuit University is located off Interstate 70 at Exit 2B (Washington Avenue).  Form the exit, follow the signs to the main entrance of Wheeling Jesuit University on your left.  Wheeling, West Virginia is located about 60 miles west of Pittsburgh, PA and 130 miles east of Columbus, OH.

Other Info:

Volunteers are needed to help on the day of the race with traffic control.  All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.  To request a race volunteer application send an email to [email protected] and enter "race volunteer" as the subject.

Race sponsored by Faith in Action Caregivers, Inc.  Faith in Action Caregivers supports the independent living of older adults and people with disabilities in Ohio and Marshall Counties in West Virginia and Belmont County in Ohio through the shared ministry of faith communities. The organization is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization and is incorporated in the State of West Virginia.  Faith in Action Caregivers, Inc. is registered as a charitable organization with the West Virginia Secretary of State and the Ohio Attorney General.  All funds raised from the race will support the organization's mission.
