The Sour Grapes half & half run first started in 2001. A group of runners were unable to secure a spot in the Grandma's Marathon for that year. As a result, they decided to organize a run that would be fun, challenging and a means to enjoy the company of other enthusiastic runners; hence, the birth of Sour Grapes half & half. This years races include a half marathon run, a 10.55K run/walk, a kids mile run, and a kids half mile run.
The half marathon and 10.55K run courses traverse the beautiful, but challenging terrain of central Minnesota. The race course is a 10.55K loop. The half marathoners will complete the loop twice. The terrain includes some uneven ground, sandy soil and moderately challenging hills. Half marathoners will pass water stops 7 times. Those running or walking the 10.55 K will pass water stops 3 times.
The Sour Grapes Half & Half is held at the Northland Arboretum, 14250 Conservation Drive, Brainerd, MN 56401. Located in the heart of the lakes country in Brainerd/Baxter, Minnesota, The Northland Arboretum offers more than 540 acres of Green Space, including a Norway Pine Plantation, gardens, flower beds and over 20 Kilometers of trails.
Join us for the thirteenth annual Sour Grapes Races held in the beautiful 540 acre Northland Arboretum. The course is challenging, but beautiful. Your hard work will be rewarded with a T-shirt, finisher token and post race refreshments. Our unique setting makes this a family favorite. All proceeds are donated to the Northland Arboretum.
Race includes a half marathon, 10K run or walk, Kids 1 M and Kids 1/2 M.
The race will be chip timed and there will be race day registration.
Is it the lure of the beautiful Northwood's setting or the "Minnesota Friendly" attitude that sets our race apart from others? Decide for yourself as you plan to attend our thirteenth annual race in the 540 acres of Green Space at the Brainerd Arboretum. The half marathon course and 10K run/walk course covers the beautiful, but challenging, terrain of wooded trails. The proceeds from the event will be donated to the Northland Arboretum, a non-profit organization.
All participants will be given a t-shirt, a finisher token, and will be treated to post race refreshments at the awards ceremony. Bring the family and join in on the fun, food and camaraderie of a great bunch of running enthusiasts.
Each year our number of runners/walkers grow as well as our donations. Thanks for making this a great event!!
