Race Information:

The Pumpkinman Long Course is a half iron distance race consisting of a two lap swim course totaling 1.2 miles, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run with a field size of 550 participants. The race starts at 7:00 AM on Sunday, September 7th, 2014 at the Spring Hill Lodge in South Berwick, ME. There is no rain date and race management reserves the right to modify or shorten the race course in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, and to accept or reject any entry. No transfers or substitutions. The minimum age to compete is 15.

Aqua Bike Information:
The Pumpkinman Aqua Bike is a half iron distance race consisting of a two lap swim course totaling 1.2 miles and 56 mile bike. The race starts at 7:00 AM on Sunday, September 7th, 2014 at the Spring Hill Lodge in South Berwick, ME. There is no rain date and race management reserves the right to modify or shorten the race course in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, and to accept or reject any entry. No transfers or substitutions. The minimum age to compete is 15.

Race Amenities:
Each competitor will receive a t-shirt, a custom one-of-a-kind triathlete travel bag, finisher shirt and finisher medal, imprinted swim cap, cash and custom awards, massage services, and a complimentary post-race New England style dinner. We will have chip timing, and race announcing by Andy Schachat. There will be boat, motorcycle and sag vehicle support, USAT Officials and Marshalls, the seacoast's best volunteers and an amazing and safe race course! 

 

Wetsuits:

Race Cut Off:

A race cut-off time of 3:00pm will be enforced. The swim course will close ONE HOUR after the last swim wave, the bike course will close at 12:30pm, and the run course closes at 3:00pm. Swimmers will be brought to shore after this time and cyclists/runners should expect uncontrolled intersections and aid stations to be unavailable.

Dinner Options:
The Spring Hill Restaurant will also be open for those looking for dining options. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Please visit the Spring Hill website for more information.

Race Day Special Amenities for Families and Spectators:

The Spring Hill Restaurant will open its doors on Sunday, September 8th from 8am until 10:00am. While you are cycling the course, your family and friends can enjoy a beautiful breakfast buffet by one of the finest restaurants New England has to offer. Items on the menu will include: eggs, pancakes, fresh baked muffins, fruits, granola, hash browns, ham, waffles, and much much more. The cost will be $12 for adults and $7 for children under 12. Post Race Dinner for Athletes:
Following the Long Course/Half Iron distance race, athletes will treated to a New England Harvest Style feast provided by the Spring Hill Restaurant. There will also be a cash bar and beer tent by Shipyard Brewery. Family members and spectators can order this dinner for an additional cost of $28 for adults or $16 for children under 12. Dinner will begin at noon. Tickets must be pre-ordered. The dinner will include the following:

  • - Gravy (gluten free also available)
  • - Mashed Potatoes
  • - Squash
  • - Green Beans
  • - Cole Slaw
  • - Tossed Salad
  • - Cranberry Sauce
  • - Homemade bread and rolls

  • - Drinks

Spectating:
Family, friends, and spectators please bring a picnic and blanket; and enjoy the day on Spring Hills beautiful beach! There will be activities for children and The Spring Hill Restaurant will be there selling a variety of different food items at reasonable prices.

Race Foundation:
The Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival is a non-profit organization that was created in 2006. With experience developing and directing races such at the Sea to Summit Race, Aggieman, Eliot Duathlon, and Eliot Festival Days 5K, the The Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival Board of Directors are equipped to deliver a nationally sanctioned, well run, and safe event. With the support of the Town and the South Berwick Police Department, the Pumpkinman is sure to be an exciting event for multiple seacoast communities. 

Beneficiary:
It is with great pleasure that we announce that ALL proceeds generated by the Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival will be donated within the South Berwick and Eliot communities. The proceeds will help establish student athlete scholarships and provide funding for athletic programs within the local community.

Overview:

The Pumpkinman Triathlon will take place at Spring Hill, a beautiful and scenic location illustrating the best of what the Seacoast has to offer. The Lodge at Spring Hill is located at 117 Pond Road, South Berwick, ME and directions can be found here

The race will host 550 multi-sport athletes from all over Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and beyond and will cater to both new and veteran athletes. It is a half iron distance triathlon consisting of:

   1.2 mile swim in Knights Pond   56 mile beautiful rolling bike course along the well maintained Eastern Trail (paved surface)   13.1 mile scenic two loop run that starts out with a welcomed downhill start, long flat section along the Eastern Trail with a finish to remember!

Please note the aqua bike event will conclude with the 56 mile bike and a short run to the finish timing mat.

This destination race showcases both the beauty of the venue as well as the South Berwick portion of the Eastern Trail. 

**Please note that the roads are not closed to traffic, but we will have volunteers all along the course to point you in the right direction.
