2010 Portage Lakes Triathlon, Duathlon & Aquabike:

  • This race serves as the championship race for the Wheelie Fun Triathlon and Duathlon Series.
  • Course Information:

  • The triathlon starts off with a beautiful 750 meter swim (1-lap Sprint, 2-laps Olympic) in Portage Lakes on a rectangular course along the beach.
  • Duathletes start off with a 5k out and back run within the park.
  • The triathlon and duathlon bike courses (1-lap Sprint, 2-laps Olympic) loop through the country roads surrounding the park.
  • Both events finish with a run through the park with the finish line overlooking Portage Lakes.

    From Columbus -

  • Travel I-71 North to I-76 East. I-76 will merge with SR 224.
  • Take SR 224 East to the Manchester Road Exit/SR 93.
  • Take SR 93 South (follow park signs) approx. 5 miles to the park entrance.

    From Cleveland -

  •  Travel I-77 South to I-76 west to SR 224 East.
  • Take SR 224 to the Manchester Road Exit/SR 93.
  • Take SR 93 South (follow park signs) approx. 5 miles to the park entrance.

    Awards/Race Divisions

    The top three male and female in each race division of both the sprint and Olympic distances will receive medals.

    Race divisions are as follows:

  • Age Group - 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+
  • Elite Open - 15-39 years old, has chance to finish in top 10 overall
  • Elite Master - 40-75 years old, has chance to finish in top 10 overall
  • Clydesdale - Males racing weight groups, not age:
    -under 39 & 185lbs-199lbs
    -under 39 & 200lbs-224lbs
    -under 39 & 225lbs +
    -over 40 & 185lbs-199lbs
    -over 40 & 200lbs-224lbs
    -over 40 & 225lbs+
  • Athena - Females racing weights group, not age group - 150lbs+
  • Mountain Bike - racing on a heavier bike with wider tires then a triathlon bike
  • Aquabike - racing only the swim and bike portions only (no running)
  • Triathlon Team - one swim, one cyclist, one runner
  • Duathlon Team - one runner does both runs, one cyclist
