2014 New Year's Duathlon:
The New Year's Duathlon is a FREE run-bike-run format race, with a 2 mile run, 6.5 mile bike, 2 mile run course. The race benefits Girls on the Run - Sacramento, a non-profit agency working to promote health and fitness to young girls.
The race has reached our first limit of 400 athletes for the New Year's Duathlon! We have opened 200 more spots with a $15 entry fee - $10 of which is donated to Girls on the Run - Sacramento, our official race charity.
For the New Years Duathlon there will be an Overall Champion prize for the first overall male and female finisher. There will also be raffle prizes for all competitors who stick around and insert their bib number in the raffle bin. Winners must be present to collect prizes that will include apparel, training equipment and gear, and TBF Racing gift certificates.
Course Information:
Run - The 2 mile run course is the same for both legs of the race. The course will run on granite paths, single track trails, and a small section on pavement with an aid station at the start of the run and the half way point.
Bike - The 6.5 mile road bike course is on closed roads within Folsom Lake State Park. The course has several turns and twisting corners winding through the oak forest bordering Folsom Lake. Care should be taken on several sharp turns so as not to exceed safe speed limits.
Other Info:
After the New Years Duathlon hot soup along with cookies and fruit will be available to all competitors free of charge. Family, friends and spectators can purchase a meal ticket for $5 to help support Girls on the Run Sacramento.
