Swim... Bike... Run... Just For Fun!!

Please join us for the Harrington Grove kids' neighborhood triathlon on
Saturday, August 3rd, starting at 8am (7:30 am for registration).  This is a fundraising event for the Synchro Rays (HG's synchronized swimming team) to raise money for the sound equipment and is open to kids inside and outside of the neighborhood.  It is a fun triathlon for kids up to the age of 14, promoting health and fitness.  Many of the kids decorate their bikes and helmets with crepe paper and balloons (provided) before the race begins.  Parents are encouraged to participate with their child for the biking and running portions, if they would like to.  Helmets are required for all children.

There will be no record of placement or times, but everyone will receive a ribbon.  If anyone is interested in volunteering (either before the event or the day of), especially high school students, your time and help would really be appreciated!  We are asking that all parents watch their children when they are in the pool.  Any help parents can offer volunteering (for races when their child is not participating) would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks so much.

Course Information:

Course for each group:
6 and under
swim - 1 -2 lengths (at each person's comfort level)
bike - follow the black path from the pool, through the parking lot to the trees and playground, around the tennis courts and back to the pool
run - from the pool, to the Bluffs entrance, back to the pool

7- 10
swim - suggesting 4 lengths (or less - just at each person's comfort level)
bike - bike through the pool parking lot toward the playground, follow the black path between the trees and the playground to the tennis courts, go left at the second bridge (after passing both sets of tennis courts) and follow the path between the houses of the Glen and the Bluffs until the path dead ends onto N. Exeter, go left onto N. Exeter and then left again onto Ingate Way.  Follow Ingate Way until it intersects N. Exeter, take a left onto N. Exeter until it intersects New Leesville Blvd, then go left onto New Leesville Blvd, past the playground and back to the pool through the parking lot.  (This route makes a giant loop.)
run - from the pool, to the entrance of the Bluffs, left onto Crossland Court to the end of the cul-de-sac, back to the entrance of the Bluffs, right onto New Leesville and back toward the pool, but the finish line is on the sidewalk before you run down sidewalk to the pool parking lot.

11 - 14
swim - 8 lengths ( or less - at each person's comfort level)
bike bike through the pool parking lot toward the playground, follow the black path between the trees and the playground to the tennis courts, go left at the second bridge (after you have passed both sets of tennis courts) and follow the path between the houses of the Glen and the Bluffs until the path dead ends onto N. Exeter.  Go left onto N. Exeter and then left again onto Ingate Way.  Follow Ingate Way until it intersects N. Exeter, take a left onto N. Exeter until it intersects New Leesville Blvd, then go left onto New Leesville Blvd, past the playground and back to the pool through the parking lot.
run - same as the bike route, only the finish line is in the street, right before you enter the pool parking lot.

This triathlon is a fundraiser for the HG synchronized summer swimming team and is open to kids inside and outside of the neighborhood.  It is a very fun event that encourages fitness.  Parents are welcome to do the race with their child (the biking and running portions) and many of the kids decorate their bikes and helmets.  Some kids are competitive while others are just happy to finish.  The course can be modified, as each person sees fit.  Everyone receives a ribbon and most people cheer the kids on throughout the race.
