2013 5K Race for the Nation & 1-Mile Fun Run:
The 5-K Race for the Nation is a premiere running event located in South Central Pennsylvania and is open for competitors of all abilities and ages.
This event has played host to Olympic Gold Medalists, professional athletes, and to your average runner just looking for a well-organized local race to enter.
The 5-K is USATF Certified 3.1-miles and is considered flat and fast with the current men's record at 15:00 and the women's record at 17:03.
Cash Awards are presented to the top 3 open men ($200, $100, $50), open women ($200, $100, $50) , masters men ($100, $50, $25) and masters women ($100, $50, $25).
Also, there is a $100 cash bonus for setting a new course record in your respective division.
This event also features an ever growing kids 12 years and under 1-mile fun run.
Parents can run with their kids but are instructed to not cross the finish line.
There will also be hundreds of dollars in door prizes given out in addition to awards for the top three individuals in their age group (12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and above).
So, if your looking for a growing and competitive event with a family friendly environment, the 5-K Race for the Nation is it.
ALL PROCEEDS raised from this year's event will be donated to the following organizations/charitiesd: Wounded Warrior Project, Chambersburg Youth Football League, and the NOVA Corporation Scholarship Program for students pursuing college degrees in the STEM education program.

From points north of Chambersburg, PA:
Take I-81S till you reach exit 17-Walker Rd.
Turn right off the exit and follow till you reach Gateway Avenue on the right.
Parking is across from the Ford Dealership.
From points south of Chambersburg, PA:
Take I-70W to I-81N (Exit 26).
After you pass the Maryland/Pennsylvania Border on I-81 follow interstate till you reach Exit 16-Lincoln Way.
Make a left off the exit onto Lincoln Way Avenue (Rt.30).
Turn right at second stop light onto Walker Road.
Follow Walker Road till you reach Gateway Avenue.
Make a left onto Gateway and park in the Gateway Shopping Plaza located on the left.
