This 5th Annual event has become a south florida summer tradition. Its hosted by Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue and guarded by the award winning ocean lifeguards of this leading agency in the field of public safety. Open water enthusiasts of every ability level turn out in large numbers to compete or just participate in this safe, well organized event. Athletes wearing wet suits and speedsuits will not be eligible for awards. Post race awards ceremony with lots of refreshments. Trophies to top 3 overall male and female. Custom medallions to top 3 in each age froup. Registration closes at 300 so pre registration is strongly encouraged.
Exact course layout will be determined by race day conditions but participants can expect to swim both with and against the current. Thus the nickname "The current event"
The entry fee was kept low so that participants could purchase the commemorative T-shirts being sold by off duty lifeguards who are members of The United States Lifesaving Association of Palm Beach County. USLA-PBC is a 501 c-4 not for profit organization dedicated to public education and supporting the ocean lifeguards of Palm Beach County in their efforts to provide the highest quality of public safety.
