The 2013 Mesa Sprint Triathlon is the East Valley's premier sprint distance triathlon. It is staged at the Skyline Aquatics Center featuring a state of the art pool and semi-urban run course ending on Skyline H.S. track . The swim is the first leg of the race. Participants will start in 10 second intervals from the northeast end of the pool completing 8 lengths of pool. Total swim distance: 400 yards. Swim
Cyclist must walk their bicycles to the outside of the transition area. They will head north on Crismon Rd. and turn East (right) on Broadway Rd. They will then turn South (right) on Signal Butte and ride to Southern. They will turn West (right) on Southern Ave and then turn North (right) on Crismon completing their first loop. Each cyclist will complete the loop 3 times totaling 12 miles. Bike
The run portion of the event will take place primarily within the confines of the Skyline Aquatics Center, Skyline H.S. and Skyline Park. The run starts at the transition area and completes at the Skyline H.S. track for a total distance of 5k. Run
Participants will have the option of completing a duathlon consisting of a shorter run course immediately prior to the Bike Course and Run Course completed by triathlon participants.
YOUTH SPLASH & DASH
Youth 12 and under may participate in the Youth Splash &Dash event consisting of a 200 yard swim and approximate 1 mile run ending at the triathlon finish line just north of the Pool. The Youth Splash N. Dash will begin at 9:30 am.
The transition area will be just outside the aquatics center in the Skyline High School parking lot.
CEP Timing is the official timer for the race. CEP utilizes a chip timing system. Participants will receive timing chips in their race packet the morning of the race. Each race participant will cross a sensory pad immediately prior to the swim portion of the race. A second sensory pad is placed between the pool and transition area. The third split is taken after the bike course is completed, immediately prior to the run course. The final sensory pad is crossed at the finish line.
