Nestled in the lower Verde River basin, just northeast of Scottsdale, sits the McDowell Mountain Range. The early Yavapai were known to receive guidance from "Mountain Spirits" that dwell in the McDowell Mountain.
We can't guarantee that you will commune with spirits during the race. Then again, we can't guarantee that you won't. We can guarantee that you will leave this adventure with a clear head and a new outlook on life. Maybe it is the Spirits after all.
McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers over 50 miles of breathtakingly diverse trails. These trails provide majestic mountain views, epic desert vistas, steep inclines, swooping turns, and rugged terrain. Keep your eyes peeled so you don't miss the iconic southwestern landscapes. Complete with towering saguaro cacti, deer, javelina (look it up), and birds.
Finally, you will be running at least one leg at night so you'll catch the brilliant starlight as you run through the cool desert air. Possibly accompanied by the Yavapai Mountain Spirits.
