This is a challenging three-point sprint distance race held in picturesque Jo Daviess County. This popular event has been named one of the top 10? sprint triathlons in the U.S. by USA Triathlon (USAT). The event features Age Group Competition, Real Time Results, and a Pre-Race Celebration, and a free Post Race Party and Awards Ceremony.
The Triathlon starts with a 660-yard swim in the clear, cool waters of Apple Canyon Lake, with a beach start and finish. Athletes are then tested by a 17.32-mile bike ride from the lake which takes them up and down the winding country roads of Jo Daviess County to Shenandoah Riding Center. To finish, competitors run 4.3 miles through the hills and hiking paths of The Galena Territory to the finish line at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa. Registrants can also opt for the Duathlon, which starts with a 2-mile run in lieu of the swim portion. The duathletes then compete on the same bike and final run courses as the triathletes.
