Sunday, July 28, 2013: XTERRA, & Short Course! Bar-b-que!! Mountain & Meadow views!! Fun, twisty single track, double track, and some dirt road. A very scenic triathlon offering amazing views! Short course race will take place at 9:15am and is about one-half the distance. Don't swim? Enter a relay! Relays are long course event only. Race Venue Views of the Gallatin Mountain Range and several glaciated valleys are visible from all over the course-if the course doesn't steal your breath, the scenery will! This race is located on USFS land and will be open to the public at all times. Enjoy! Wetsuits will be mandatory since water temps are in high 50s to 60s.
One fine bar-b-que is included! Breakfast items and bar-b-que items will be on sale for all spectators; all food sales benefit our volunteer group. Race Entry Perks This race is a part of the XTERRA America Tour and so your placing will earn you points towards the XTERRA national championships. Besides a great time, a challenging course and scenery that you will never forget, your entry includes the bar-b-que, a colorful pair of DeFeet MTB socks, a neon swim cap, chip timing, post-race snacks, and lots of raffle items from our local and national sponsors! Photo ops are free!Friday, July 26th at Montana Ale Works (611 East Main Street) from 4pm to 8pm & Saturday; July 27th from 2 pm until 7pm, will take place at the race venue, which is Hyalite Reservoir Day Use Area. Beginner Triathletes The short course race begin at 9:15am and is designed mainly for beginner triathletes and children (ages 10+) that have good mountain biking skills. The short course race is less technical and about one-half the distance of the XTERRA course. However, there are portions of the bike course that may be considered somewhat technical to beginner mountain bikers. From I-90, take the 19th Ave exit and go south towards downtown Bozeman. Follow 19th avenue south through town and continue following 19th Ave. until the road bends to the right (west). Approximately, 1 mile west of the big bend in road will be the Hyalite Canyon Road turn-off. Turn left onto Hyalite Canyon Road and go about 9 miles until you get to Hyalite Reservoir Day Use Area (dam parking area). The transition area and finish line will be straight ahead-drop offs only on race day.
