Race venue is located at the Hyalite Canyon Recreation Area in the Gallatin Mountain Range.   Mountain & Meadow views!! Fun, twisting single track, double track, and some dirt road. A very scenic triathlon offering amazing views of glaciated canyons and jagged peaks throughout the entire course! 

XTERRA, & Short Course off-road triathlon entry includes:

  • Yummy post-race bar-b-que, colorful DeFeet socks, chip timing, neon swim cap, a fantastic raffle, awards by Montana Ale Works, embroidered towels as special awards, and a lot of fun memories.

Course Information:

XTERRA Course
This course is both physically and mentally challenging for the weekend warrior or the well-seasoned athlete. The swim is located in Hyalite Reservoir, which will have temperatures ranging from the high 50s to 60s.  The bike and run courses offer a variety of fun single track and lots of opportunities to pass other athletes.  For more specificThis race is a part of the XTERRA America Tour and so your placing will earn you points towards the XTERRA national championships course information, please go to our website.

Beginner Triathletes

The short course race begin at 9:15am and is designed mainly for beginner triathletes and children (ages 11+) that have good mountain biking skills. The short course race is less technical and about one-half the distance of the XTERRA course. However, there are portions of the bike course that may be considered somewhat technical to beginner mountain bikers. Please be aware that you may walk any part of the course (except the swim) at anytime.

Directions:

Directions to Hyalite Reservoir Day Use Area area: from I-90, take the 19th Ave exit and go south towards downtown Bozeman. Follow 19th avenue south through town and continue following 19th Ave. until the road bends to the right (west). Approximately, 1 mile west of the big bend in road will be the Hyalite Canyon Road turn-off. Turn left onto Hyalite Canyon Road and go about 9 miles until you get to Hyalite Reservoir Day Use Area (dam parking area). The transition area and finish line will be straight ahead-drop offs only on race day.

All rides are FREE and hosted by Matthew Parks, USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach and XTERRA veteran. Rides will meet at the Hyalite Reservoir parking. Please RSVP at [email protected] or call 406-580-7987.


This race is a part of the XTERRA America Tour and so your placing in the XTERRA long course event will earn you points towards the XTERRA national championships.
