The Leprechaun 8K Charity Run is hosted by the Knights of Columbus Columbia Council 7559 and the Tanzanian Childrens Project (TCP).

TCP is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise funds for the development of health and education facilities in Tanzania. Most of the children who will benefit from the proceeds of this race have been orphaned due to loosing one or both parents from HIV/AIDS and tropical diseases such as malaria.

At least 50 percent of the net proceeds raised from this road race will be used to purchase medical equipment and supplies for the Malowa Medical Dispensary located in the Rombo District of Tanzania. (Go to Google Maps search on Lake Chala, Tanzania and zoom in to see the dispensary (off to the left hand side of the map).)

The event consists of an 8K run, and a 1K run/walk. Following the event (weather permitting) will be a performance of traditional Irish music by the Tanzania Ceili Band.
