2nd Annual iCAN Junior Triathlon Club Youth Triathlon
The iCAN TRI Youth Triathlon Event will be the venue for the USA Triathlon Southwest Regional Youth Championship ages 6 to 19. This spectacular venue has challenging courses for beginner through experienced triathletes . The swim complex has two (2), 50 meter pools, and the (4) bike courses are closed to traffic & run courses are all point to point. This event will be a USAT Talent ID race & feature an F1, draft legal division.
The Transition area is a secure area and for iCAN TRI Youth Triathletes only. Parents of athletes in the (6-8) age group will receive a colored wrist band and may assist their athlete in transition for set up only. Parents must exit the transition area immediately following set up for their young athletes. Transition volunteers will assist young triathletes in T1 and T2 when it is appropriate or necessary. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times during the race. Upon return from the bike portion of the race, triathletes must rack their bikes in the exact location that it was previously racked. If someone has racked their bike in your location you may rack in the next nearest location. No bikes may leave transition without the bike number and the athlete number match.
The swim will take place in one or both 50 meter pools. There will be (2) athletes in each lane and (2) volunteers to verify your laps. You will see an underwater lane marker to signal your last lap if you are swimming multiple laps. Wave staging will take place on the South end of the pool. You should be in the staging area 15 minutes prior to your wave start. Please see the course map for athlete entrance to the swim area, wave staging area, swim distance and exit to transition.
The (4) bike courses will be of varying distances. (6-8) and (9-12) age groups are out and back. (13-15) and (16-19) are point to point. Please refer to the course maps for your specific course color, directions and distance. All the courses will be closed to traffic and monitored for safety. The Bike course will NOT have aid stations.
The (4) run courses will be of varying distances. All are out and back. Please refer to the course maps for your specific course color, directions and distance. There will be an (3) aid stations located on the course with water and fluid replacement. ALL athletes must wear their race number during the run and have the number facing to the front when crossing the finish line.
From the North: Take Freeway 99 South to the Avenue 12 Exit. Travel East on Avenue 12. Travel South on Highway 41 to Friant Exit. Travel North on Friant. Travel East on Shepherd Travel North on Willow Ave. to International. Travel West on International. Prior to Chestnut, turn right into the parking lot on the S/W corner of campus at Chestnut & International. Park here.
From the South: Take Freeway 99 North to Highway 41 North. Travel North on Highway 41, take the Friant Exit. Travel North on Friant. Travel East on Shepherd. Travel North on Willow. Travel West on International. Prior to Chestnut, turn right into the parking lot on the S/W corner of campus at Chestnut & International. Park here.
