New Triathlon Series Comes to Hamilton County
The Indianapolis Sailing Club on Geist Reservoir will play host to the inaugural Geist Triathlon on Saturday, June 22, 2013. Registration will open at 8:00 am EST on April 1, 2013 for the sprint triathlon featuring a 500 meter open water swim, 10 mile bike ride, and 5K run. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a Geist-area cancer charity, Team Luke.
This event is produced by Planet Adventure, an event management company that produces about 70 events per year including trail runs, bike races, road runs, and triathlons.
Course Information:
The 500 m swim course is an open water swim in the marina of the Indianapolis Sailing Club. A sandy beach awaits the side-by-side start line.
A 10-mile bike ride takes you around the north half of scenic Geist Reservoir, providing ample views of the water all along the route.
Final leg of the sprint triathlon is a 5K out and back run down Fall Creek Road into Windjammer neighborhood.
