2010 Oar One Day Adventure Race

Are you looking to go just a bit further, go just a bit longer, and go just a bit tougher? Then this Odyssey race is for you! The classic Odyssey Race will take place in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia.
The 21st Edition of the Odyssey One Day Adventure Race will be fun and challenging, but a doable 24 hour adventure race for the novice and advanced adventure racing teams. Whether looking at moving up from a sprint or 12 hr adventure race, or jumping in for the first time this will be a rewarding adventure for all. The event will have different cutoff times to make the event very doable and finish official. The Odyssey One Day will challenge athletes physically and mental as teams of 2 and 4 along with soloist will push their limits as they mountain bike, hike and paddle through the beautiful forest of the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA.
The experience will be exhilarating and adventurous!
The Odyssey One Day is part of the Checkpoint Tracker National Point Series, with points being awarded to the 4 person co-ed division.
Racers and their families will also have access to several free activities.
Sand volleyball
Horseshoes
Mountain biking trails
Soccer
Fishing (we recommend that you bring your own fishing tackle)
Canoeing in the pond (lifejackets and parent supervision required).
Swimming in the pond (lifejackets and parent supervision required).
Miles of hiking trails.
Cedar sauna
Wilderness Adventure is planning on having several activities running during the family expo that will be available, for an additional fee, on Saturday for anyone interested (These activities are subject to change depending on staffing availability):
Mountain Bike Rental $40/full day (Includes use of helmet, water bottle, & map)
Mountain Bike Rental $20/half day (Includes use of helmet, water bottle, & map)
900 Zip Line $15/person
50 Climbing Wall $15/person
Moms, Dads, Sons, Daughters, & Couples this will find this adventure race to be a fun, bonding experience with a little mud (rain depending, it could be a lot of mud), sweat and cheer. If you are in good physical condition, have a good pair of running shoes, paddling skills and a mountain bike, then you are ready. It will be a great time in the beautiful outdoors. Parts of the course will be marked, but some map and compass skills will be required.
Teams looking for a more challenging course option will be able to get their fill also. There will be different cutoff times at different points in the race to lengthen the course. The teams that make the cutoff times will be allowed to do a longer trail run and a longer, more technical mountain bike. Minimum age 12 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
