Each summer Sandpoint's annual big three endurance events link arms, legs and pedals for a unique twist on triathlons. Our town's long-distance bike ride, open-water swim and half marathon run coordinate to offer the three legs of a triathlon carried out - not on one day, but over the course of the summer. We call it the TriSandpoint!
Each event is timed and athletes may register for all three events, with the final cumulative times and placements declared at conclusion of the half marathon, the final event held in September. Both individual participants and teams may compete, in male and female categories.
TriSandpoint Events: July 20, 2013 - CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo (choose 150 or 80 mile course), Aug 3, 2013 - The Long Bridge Swim 1.76 mile open water swim in pristine Lake Pend Oreille; September 15, 2013 - The Scenic Half Marathon.
Course Information:
CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo offers a 150 mile loop course that starts on the shores of beautiful Lake Pend Oreille at Sandpoint's City Beach, then heads north from Sandpoint and then east into Montana, travelling the lush river valleys amidst the western edge of the Rockies, as well as an 80 mile point to point course that starts in Troy, Montana and finishes in Sandpoint, Idaho. 7/20/13
The Long Bridge Swim offers a point to point open water swim in pristine Lake Pend Oreille that follows Sandpoint's iconic Long Bridge. 8/3/13
The Scenic Half Marathon starts and ends at Sandpoint's City Beach and initially travels south on a mostly out and back course along paved bicycle paths. 9/15/13
Directions:
Take Highway 95 north from I-90 in Coeur d"Alene to Sandpoint. After crossing the Long Bridge, take the Sandpoint exit, stay right on Hwy 95/1st St, then right on Bridge St to City Beach.

Teams must declare their intention to compete in Tri Sandpoint on or before CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo. Individuals may register for each event separately. Register early, CHAFE 150 is limited to 500. The Scenic Half sells out every year and there is no race day registration. Make sure to book your hotel early, Sandpoint is a popular summer destination. Our lodging partner is Schweitzer Mountain.
