Welcome to the 2013 Huntington Beach Triathlon presented by Tri the Beach!
The Huntington Beach Triathlon will take place in beautiful Huntington Beach a.k.a. Surf City, USA. The race will consist of a 1/2 mile swim, 10 mile bike and a 2 1/2 mile beach sand run.
All ages and experiences are welcome. The race distances are at a level so that the newest or inexperienced triathlete can participate. The course however is unique and challenging enough that even an experienced triathlete will love the event.
The swim will be an open water swim in the ocean. Participants will start at lifeguard tower #8 on Huntington State Beach and swim south 1/2 mile, where they will exit the water.
The bike portion of the race will take place on the Huntington Beach Bike Path and the Santa Ana River Bike Trail. Both bike trails will be closed to the public on the day of the event and exclusively used for the event. Total length of the bike course is 10 miles.
The run portion of the race will literally be on Huntington Beach. If you consider 2.5 miles is an easy run, wait until you have to run it in the sand. It will be an "out and back" run. Participants will start at lifeguard tower #4 on Huntington State Beach and run 1.25 miles north along the sand and then turn around and run back 1.25 miles to the finish line.
