16th Annual Granite Bay Triathlon : |
Triathlon : Swim .75 miles, Bike 13 miles, Run 5 miles |
This will be the 16th year for the Granite Bay Triathlon. This year the race will serve as the TRI Club Sprint Championship and Individual Championship Race. TRI Clubs with 10 or more athletes racing on race day are eligible for prizes and the Fastest TRI Club Trophy. TRI Clubs racing in seven TBF Racing Qualifying Sprint Triathlons will be entered into the Overall Sprint Triathlon Champion TRI Club, and Individuals qualifying in one or more of the seven races will receive a discount entry into the Granite Bay Triathlon Championship Race. The Granite Bay Triathlon features a challenging course, great competition, hot post race food and free athlete massage, plus awards in both Open and Sprint Triathlon Championship divisions.
The Granite Bay Duathlon has new distances this year with a 2 mile run-13 mile bike-5 mile run course sure to be called the Worlds Toughest Sprint Duathlon, plus we have our Kids Fun Run with finisher ribbons for each competitor.
Swim - The race starts from the Granite Beach in Folsom Lake with a .75 mile swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be approximately 56 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach and on a grassy path to the transition area located in the parking area.The SUP Division will complete two-laps on the .75 mile swim course.
Bike - The 13-mile bike course is a TWO-LAP course located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. After the second loop you will return into the transition area. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. The Bike course will Not have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with eEnergy gels will be available in the transition area.
Run - The 5-mile run course leaves transition and runs on single-track trails along the lake back towards Beals Point. The out and back course has 3 aid stations that will be stocked with water, electrolyte beverage, and energy gels. The finish is back at the start area at the Granite Beach. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

From the Bay Area or Sacramento:
Take I-80 East to Roseville and take the Douglas Blvd exit east.
Douglas Blvd will run directly into Folsom Lake State Park.
Turn right at the third stop sign and enter the parking area at Granite Beach.
The start and finish will take place at Granite Beach.
