- Course Info: Frye Regional Medical Center is preparing for the 5th Annual Lake Hickory Triathlon on May 12th, 2007 at the Riverbend Development Clubhouse in Hickory. The Lake Hickory Triathlon consists of a 750 meter open swim in Lake Hickory, followed by a 15 mile bike course featuring beautiful scenes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and culminates with a 5 K run around the Riverbend subdivision.

- <>Course Info: (750m/20k/5k) - The race course revolves around a transition area next to Sea Level Inn. The same transition area will be used for all phases.
- The swim will be in Nelson Bay, a shelted bay off Core Sound. The water is salty and has little current.
- The bike course is out and back, following Hwy. 12 east toward Cedar Island over the Monroe Gaskill Memorial Bridge and back.
- The run course is out and back, following Hwy. 70 west over the Dan Taylor Memorial Bridge and back. Water stations are provided at the turn around point on the bike and on the run. The finish line is in the drivethru of Wachovia Bank, across the street from the transition area.
- <>Directions To Race: Nelson Bay Challenge Sprint Triathlon takes place in the Down East community of Sea Level. This is 45 minute drive from Morehead City. Participants, volunteers and those wanting to watch a great race should follow Highway 70 East out of Beaufort. Continue to follow Highway 70 as it heads toward Cedar Island. You will travel through the fishing communities of Smyrna, Davis and Stacy. Once you cross the Dan Taylor Memorial High rise Bridge, Highway 70 immediately turns right and Highway 12 continues east toward Cedar Island. You need to turn right on Highway 70. You will pass Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay, a retirement home, and the Sea Level Extended Care Facility. The race site is within 1 mile of the intersection.

- Swim Leg: This is a short freshwater swim from the beach at Lake Lure Golf and Beach Resort to the Resort Marina. Athletes will exit the water at the boat ramp to the parking lot for the bike exchange. Race morning water temperature will dictate wetsuit legality under USAT rules OR (Race morning water temperature this time of the year will prohibit use of wetsuits under USAT rules.) Wave starts by age groups.
- Bike Leg: This is a 25 K ride over mildly hilly terrain. Riders will leave the Marina parking lot and leave the Resort and up a steep hill onto Buffalo Creek Road. The next 13 miles is a gentle ride along Bill’s Creek Rd, Freemantown Rd, Bible School Rd, back onto Bill’s Creek, Buffalo Creek, down the hill into the Resort for the exchange in the Marina parking area.
- Run Leg: Runners will enjoy a meandering 5 K loop inside the Resort. Finish is along the beach!
- Directions To Race:
- From I-40 coming from Hickory: Exit I-40 at Exit 81. Go left at end of ramp onto Sugar Hill Road. To help you find the way, look for signs indicating right turns to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and/or Fairfield Mountains. From I-40 go about 8 miles and bear to the right continuing on Sugar Hill Road. (In 5 miles Sugar Hill will become Montford Cove Road, then Cove Road but just keep going straight) Go 7 miles and turn right onto Bill’s Creek Road. Go 7 miles and turn right onto Buffalo Creek Road (Dalton General Store on left). Go 2.3 miles (past Apple Valley GC) and make a right and quick left into Lake Lure Golf and Beach Resort. Stop at Security Gate for directions to Lakeview Restaurant to register.
- From South or East on I-26 eg coming from Columbia, SC: Exit I-26 at first exit in NC. Signs indicate Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Go right at end of exit ramp on 108, through Columbus for about 5 miles and then left on Route 9. Go about 10 miles to Routes 64/74-A. Larkins Restaurant will be straight ahead. The Town of Lake Lure is to the left; Lake Lure Golf and Beach Resort is to the right. Follow directions below “From Route 9 and Larkins”.
- From Asheville: Take I-240 east to 74-A (straight across I-40). 20 miles of windy road will get you to the Town of Lake Lure. Go through town and stay on 64/74-A for about 3.5 miles to Route 9 intersection on right and Larkins Restaurant on left. Follow directions below “From Route 9 and Larkins”.
- From Hendersonville and I-26: Take 64 toward Bat Cave and Chimney Rock (approx 12 miles from I-26). Go right at intersection with Route9 and 74-A through Bat Cave, Chimney Rock for 3.5 miles to Town of Lake Lure. Go through town and stay on 64/74-A for 3.5 miles to Route 9 intersection on right and Larkins Restaurant on left. Follow directions below “From Route 9 and Larkins”.
- From Route 9 and Larkins: Go 2.7 miles on 64/74-A and turn left onto Bill’s Creek Road. Go 1.8 miles and turn left onto Buffalo Creek Road. Go 2.3 miles (past Apple Valley GC) and go right and quick left into Lake Lure Golf and Beach Resort. Stop at Security for directions to the Lakeview for registration.

- Course Info: The Watauga Lake Triathlon was inspired by the picturesque countryside and pristine waters of Watauga Lake. Watauga literally means "beautiful water" and it certainly holds true to its given name. Watauga holds the distinction of being the highest reservoir (more than 1900 feet above sea level) in the Tennessee river system. Surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest and flanked by the Appalachain Mountains, Watauga Reservoir is arguably the most scenic in the Tennessee River Watershed.
- More: The Third Annual event will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church and a local family farm perched on the banks of the lake in a scenic, pastoral setting. This will be a low-key festive event with great prizes, awards, and a post-race barbecue.

Turn right at the stoplight onto Hwy. 421 Bypass and go to the end. Turn left onto Hwy. 321/421. Go 3.6 miles and turn left onto Hwy. 321. Go 14 miles and turn right onto Greggs Branch Road. Go to the end and turn right onto Buntontown Road. Go 1 mile, crossing Pioneer Landing Bridge, and turn left - this becomes Dry Hill Road. Go 1.9 miles and turn left onto Sugar Grove Church Road. Travel .8 mile to the race site.
- Directions To Race From Elizabethton, TN: From the intersection of 19E and 321, travel towards Roan Mountain 5.2 miles. Turn left onto 67/321 at Shell/Subway station in Hampton and go 16.5 miles (stay on Hwy. 67, do not veer right onto 321). Turn right onto Hwy 167 and go 2.2 miles, cross bridge over lake (do not turn left at 167). Go 5.2 miles and turn right onto Sugar Grove Church Road. Travel .8 mile to the race site.
