abs

We constantly face all kinds of how-to articles suggesting the “right” foods and the “right” exercises to make everyone’s six packs pop out. But, what if you’re following all the given suggestions and tips and still no six pack is appearing? Are you doing something wrong?

Well, what you’re doing wrong is that you’re not getting the right facts about your abs in order to first get to know them, and then make them appear. Unfortunately, there are tons of myths related to these muscles and sometimes, it’s hard to notice the right and wrong ones.

That is why; it’s time for you to get the real facts about your abs and stop trusting wrong myths that only stop you from achieving your wanted results.  Below you can find some of the commonly used methods that simply dot work in the way you’re expecting to. Knowing these myths is important so you can know what to avoid and start using the right ones.

Myth #1 – Some people are born with six packs

Not all of us are lucky enough to have a super-high metabolism and with a little training and the right diet can make our six packs instantly appear. Most people’s six pack is hidden below a thick layer of fat. That is why making them appear seems to be impossible. But, this doesn’t mean you don’t have a six pack to show. You just need a little extra time and effort to get them out. Experts agree that all people have a beautiful set of washboards abs, and that they should include a little more effort into the right exercises and diet choices than the others.

Myth #2 – Ab exercises get rid of our abdominal fat

Many people assume that, by exercising their ab area they will make the fat located there to go away. But, unfortunately, this cannot happen. When exercising, despite the area, you get to only work on building your muscles, strength and endurance, but cannot expect the fat in that particular area to go away.  The only way to do that is by creating a calorie deficit in your body. This is the only way to make your overall body fat disappear. This is possible with the right diet, consistent cardio exercises and flexibility training.

Myth #3 – You can only get abs by doing ab exercises

Well, this is one of the worst myths people commonly believe in… Once and for all, you’ve got to learn that doing crunches, ab machines and situps will NOT GET YOU ABS. The fat that needs to be burned so your six packs can appear cannot go away with abs exercises. The exercises can only work on your ab muscles, by building and shaping them, not by making them appear. To see a visible six pack, you need to do more cardio exercises and eat less! This is the only way!

Myth #4 – Crunches are a must

Is true that crunches are proved to be a very effective type of exercise when trying to make your six pack appear. But, they are definitely not a must and can be easily replaced with many other exercises. There are plenty of other you can do in order to score a cut core. Despite what studies suggest, crunches are not the only type of exercises that have the potential to make you achieve your six-pack goal. External obliques and also rectus femori are our abdominal muscles that play the most important role in spinal and core stability and can give us a beautiful-looking six pack. The best way to build these muscles is by doing exercises like side planks etc. You should combine different types of exercises that work in every single ab muscle, not only the main ones.
