September, in the little mountains of Virginia begins to feel like fall with cooler mornings in the 60s and water temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Its a great time of year to race in Charlottesville! Walnut Creek Park is also a great place to bring the family for the day with its 18-hole frisbee golf course just off of the trails, a lake front, wide beach, picnic tables and grills, and a new playground for the younger kids. There will also be a pre and post race harvest party at scenic Wisdom Oaks Winery located a quarter mile south of the race venue.

From over twenty-three vineyards, including Wisdom Oaks Winery, Thomas Jeffersons home, Monticello, strolling through the University of Virginia grounds or the outdoor downtown mall, to a romantic evening dining or listening to a wide selection of live music, there is a vast array of experiences awaiting you in the area. Come race the Walnut Creek Sprint and Olympic Triathlons and immerse yourself in the Virginia experience!

Course Information:

Swim Course

Both the Sprint and Olympic Tri race swims will be a calm lake swim in cool, clear waters. The Olympic race will do two 750 meter loops and the Sprint racers will do one 750 meter loop.

Bike Course
The Olympic bike course is a 24 mile scenic moderately hilly and challenging bike course loop with a couple flat stretches and a few fast, winding descent turns. The Sprint bike course will be a shorter version of the Olympic course loop. All participants will bike past beautiful farms, vineyard countryside and even a nationally famous musicians recording studio tucked away for privacy.

Run Course
Both the Olympic and Sprint Tri race runs will be an out and back course on the long park road and a portion outside the park. This allows participants to see each other on the course. Nearly two thirds is flat or downhill and one third is uphill.
