Triathlon : Swim 1/4 Mile, Bike 16 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles |
The Lake Mills Triathlon kicks off the 2014 Wisconsin Triathlon Series! This sprint distance race is a wonderful introductory event for beginner racers and the flat, fast course provides a competitive atmosphere for experience racers after a PR. Each athlete will receive a technical t-shirt, a safe course with an experience water safety team on the swim marked by large highly-visible buoys. Pre-race water and post-race refreshments will be served.
The course will be accurately measured and well-marked, and the race will be chip-timed by SMA timing. Transition will be secure and professional bike SAG will be provided by Trek Bicycles in transition and out on the course.
A pre-race clinic from a local pro triathlete and/or USAT certified coaches will be announced closer to race day.
Throughout the season, the series scoring will be tracked on Athlinks, and at each race you will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a Trek Speed Concept bike at the end of the series.
Swim: The swim takes place in Rock Lake. There is a water safety team on the swim course if anyone needs assistance. NO swimmers will be allowed flotation devices. You need to be able to swim 1/4 mile in open water comfortably.
Bike: The 16 mile bike course is an held on country roads. The bike course is well marked with volunteers on the course. Helmets ARE required and MUST BE FASTENED before leaving the transition area. Please stay on the right so other riders can pass you safely. There are no aid stations on the bike, so please plan accordingly. For a map of the bike course, click here.
Run: The 5K run is an out and back on the Glacier Drumlin Trail. There will be two water stations on the run course. The first will be located right outside transition, and the other will be located at the 5K turn around. All runners MUST wear a number. It should be worn facing the front. Transition Area: Transition is located in the Sandy Beach parking lot. Athletes should have their transition area set up at least a 1/2 hour before the race start.
