Aleck started in the sport of triathlon in the fall of 2006 on a whim as a goal to help with weight loss ( in February  of the same year he weighed 257 pounds.)  In his first full  year (2007) and 100 pounds lighter he fell in love with the sport and found some success winning a local sprint race and qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in his first race at that distance.  2008 brought 3 more overall wins and a sub 10 hour performance in his first Ironman.  In 2009 he missed qualifying for Kona by 39 seconds at Ironman Coeur d'Alene (9:52) and set out for successful redemption qualifying for Kona at Ironman Arizona going 9:29.  His recent finish of his first Ironman world Championships in 2010 was a personal success clocking a 9:45!

Aleck credits his success to hard work, attention to detail, and adherence to a plan during training. His methods of recovery, proper building to key races, and successful tapering leading into events have lead to consecutive personal bests in all disciplines.
