Denise is certified as a USAT Level 1 Coach and USA Cycling Level 3 Coach.  She has a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, a Bachelor's Degrees in Nursing and a Bachelor's Degree in Human Nutrition.  She coaches beginner and intermediate triathletes, cyclists and runners.  She is a competitive traithlete and has competed in all triathlon distances, including Ironman.  Denise understands that in order to be successful in the multisport arena, the athlete must first make it to the start line. Denises systematic approach to training emphasizes functional movement and strength, proper mechanics and injury prevention.  In addition to her coaching, Denise works as a Performance Coach at a sports injury center in Portland and as an Operating Room Nurse. Denise has also been a member of the medical support team for Ironman Lake Placid and the Ironman World Championships in Kona.
