Matt completed his masters degree in Exercise Physiology in May of 2004 at The University of Texas at Austin, where he specialized in sports science and nutrition. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at UT, where he works in the Human Performance Lab. In 2003 he led a research project at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii which focused on sodium and fluid balance during exercise, his area of specialization. Matt has given local and national presentations on sports nutrition, fluid and sodium balance, and other triathlon related topics. A few of the presentation venues include the USAT Race Director's Conference, the American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting, Texas ACSM, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and several sports clubs.
