Carlyn was recruited to play basketball at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota and was also the captain of the Track and Field Team. Since moving to California in 1992, she has participated in adventure racing, triathlons, 5ks, 10ks, marathons and mountain bike races. She has competed and placed in the top 3 in her age group in every triathlon distance, including a win in her division at the Deer Creek Pineman Ironman in September, 2003. Although Carlyns racing has dropped off slightly due to being a full time Mom, she has had a couple of big racing accomplishments: Finishing the Big Kahuna 12 Ironman 3 months after Lily was born and having her best marathon time on Lilys 1st Birthday competing in the Mayors Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage, Alaska. Carlyns objective is to provide as much information, direction, insight and advise to triathletes to give them the mental and physical confidence to reach the finish line and the desire to compete again.
